Today’s Question: What is one of your favorite fictional relationships? The relationship could be between friends or family, or it could be a romatic relationship.

My Answer: I think “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle has one of the best brother/sister relationships ever between Meg and Charles Wallace.

Today’s Question: What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?

My answer: Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky

This is a thin novel, but it’s written in a form of stream-of-conscience, and it can be hard to follow. I read this one for an English class in highschool. I found it was a lot better to read it aloud. That way I not only saw the words, but heard them. It helped a lot. I do plan to re-read this one.

Today’s Question: If you could force everyone you know to read one book, other than the Bible or any other book that is considered a holy text by any other religion, what would it be? And just to make it a little easier… you can choose one fiction and one non-fiction.

My answer:

Fiction – Black by Ted Dekker

Non-Fiction – Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis

Today’s question: What’s the largest (# of pages) book that you’ve ever read? Did you enjoy it? Collections and multi-volume books don’t count.

My answer:

Anna Karenina, coming in at 864 pages. Unfortunately, I did not like the book. I forced myself to finish it because it’s a classic, but I found most of it mind-numbing. I have read reviews of this particular translation that say this translation is just horrible and doesn’t do the text justice, so maybe that was it. Whatever the case, I doubt I’ll be reading it again anytime soon.

This week’s question:

When you’re not really enjoying the book you are reading, and you have a book on your “To Read” list that you are excited to start reading, do you stop reading your current book and start the next one or make yourself finish it?

My answer: I usually make myself finish, unless the book is really bad, then I quit reading it, but that has more to do with the book not being enjoyable than it does with the excitement of the next book.
